Old sales tactics and used by a lot of energy sales in the past can not be applied in the new economy. If you want to get a successful sales in the current economic situation and in three to five years, you have to adapt to new ways of selling.
These skills are not new for top sales people. The same skills that I learned.
Power sales in the new economy need to have the following five skills:
Empathy to the client.
Skills to build long term relationships.
Ability to work with other departments within the company.
In-depth market knowledge.
Serve customers.
Let us look one by one in depth:
Successful sales people have the empathy to clients.
The dictionary defines empathy as; intellectual knowledge by using the experience had ever felt, thought or attitude in others.
In Layman terms, means you should be able to put yourself in the position of the client. You should be able to see things from their glasses, to feel what they feel and care about what their concerns, put aside ideas and your feelings about what is right for them.
There's an old expression that says, people do not care how much you know until they know how much of your attention. Began to care about what clients say and what they do not tell you.
A successful sales skills to build long term relationships.
Many sales people and companies that spent a lot of time and money to get new clients than to maintain existing ones. This is reversed from the first time you make contact with the clients you already have to think long-term relationships. When clients buy from you and they like and trust you, they become more confident for prefer you and to be your ambassador.
When you develop a long-term relationship, friendly with a client, and they praised you in front of other people they know, then the sales will be much easier.
As you already know, is a good thing when the phone rang and it was from a client that gives you a referral or even the referral itself is contacting you to conduct transactions.
A successful sales can work with other departments within the company.
You must have a good network connection at all departments within the company. Remember, you are all working together to achieve one goal, to make the client happy that the company make a profit.
You never know when you need help; faster delivery, increase in the purchase, the colleague who had to work late to finish the order, who knows maybe you need help from someone else one day.
A successful sales have in-depth market knowledge.
There is no better way to differentiate yourself with others who sell similar products or services other than just knowing what is happening in your market.
Do you know who sold competitors, how they sell, and what kind of customer service? Is there a new trend?
Dig deeper, finish your homework and find out what you can do to the market. Often sales with deep knowledge of sales won, regardless of the price problem.
A sales success dedicated in serving customers.
Sales did not stop when you receive a check or order form. This will continue even after the delivery process and for years to come.
Remember, long-term relationships built, involved in the process as a whole. Do not just be handed everything on others in the company. Stay involved, even to communicate with clients. Type of follow-up such as this will increase repeat orders and referral business.
All five of these key skills I have already applied for 27 years and as a basis for training products and services.
